An Overview on BITSAT Exam-2024

The BITSAT (Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test) is administered by the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) in Pilani, India. BITSAT is an entrance exam for undergraduate engineering programs provided at BITS' numerous campuses, including Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad.

2.ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA:

Qualifying Examination: Candidates must have completed the 10+2 examination from a recognized Central or State board, or its equivalent. Physics, chemistry, and mathematics should be required studies. Biology is a required course in B.Pharm programs.

Minimum Marks: Candidates must have scored at least 75% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology in their qualifying exams. They must also have scored at least 60% in each of these topics. Candidates for B.Pharm programs must have at least 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics, for a total of 75%.

English Proficiency: Proficiency in English is also necessary. Candidates should be proficient in English because that is the medium of teaching at BITS.

Year of Passing: Candidates who passed the 10+2 test in 2023 or are scheduled to take the exam in 2024 are eligible to apply for BITSAT.

Other Criteria: There are no age limitations for the BITSAT. Candidates who completed the 10+2 examination in 2021 or earlier are ineligible to apply. 

Direct Admission for Board Toppers: Students who are the top scorers in their respective board examinations (Central or State boards) in India will be admitted directly to the program of their choosing, regardless of BITSAT result. They must, however, follow the proper procedure when applying for admission.

BITSAT Score: To be considered for admission, candidates must take the BITSAT exam and receive a valid score. The BITSAT score is used for entrance, as well as to determine merit and eligibility for BITS' numerous programs.


3.EXAM PATTERN:

1.Mode of Examination: The BITSAT is a computer-based test (CBT), which means it is administered online.

2.Duration: The exam lasts three hours (180 minutes).


3.Section: The exam has four portions.

  • Physics Chemistry
  • Mathematics
  • English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning
4.Number of questions: The overall number of questions in BITSAT may differ significantly from year to year, but generally, there are:

  • Physics: 40 questions.
  • Chemistry: 40 questions.
  • Math: 45 questions.
  • English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning: 15 questions in English Proficiency and 10 questions in Logic. 

5.Total Number of Question: The BITSAT typically consists of 150 questions in total.

6.Question Types: The BITSAT has only multiple-choice questions. Each question includes four options, only one of which is correct.


7.Marking Scheme:

  • Correct answer: +3 marks.
  • Incorrect answer: -1 (negative marking)
  • Questions that have not been attempted: No marks were deducted.
8. Language: Only English is used in the exam. 

9.Syllabus: 

The BITSAT syllabus is based on the NCERT syllabus for classes 11 and 12. The syllabus for each topic is listed below:

  • Physics topics include mechanics, electricity and magnetism, modern physics, heat and thermodynamics, and so on.
  • Chemistry includes physical, inorganic, and organic chemistry, among other things.
  • Mathematics includes algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and coordinate geometry, among other things.
  • Grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, verbal and nonverbal reasoning, and so on are all examples of English proficiency and logical reasoning.

10.The difficulty level: of the BITSAT is generally regarded as moderate to high. It necessitates a thorough comprehension of topics and problem-solving abilities. 

11.Score Reporting: Candidates receive their results immediately after completing the exam. They can also access their score report on the BITS admissions website.

12.Cutoff Scores: BITSAT cutoff scores vary from year to year and are determined by a variety of factors such as the number of candidates, the exam's difficulty level, and the availability of seats.

4. APPLICATION PROCESS:

Registration: Go to the official BITSAT website (bitsadmission.com) and click the registration link. To establish a new account, enter your name, date of birth, email address, and other essential information.

Filling out the Application Form: After registering, log in to your account with the credentials you supplied at registration. Fill out the BITSAT application form with your personal information, academic qualifications, and any other required information. Ensure that all details are submitted accurately, as any errors may result in the application being rejected.

Selection of Test Centers: Select your favorite test centers from the list of available alternatives. The test centers are often placed in various locations around India and Dubai.

Upload Documents: Please upload scanned copies of your most recent passport-sized photograph and signature in the format specified. Ensure that the uploaded photographs are clear and fulfill the specifications.

Fee Payment: Pay the BITSAT application fee online using a debit card, credit card, or internet banking. The application cost varies based on the candidate's category (Indian or International) and the number of exam centers selected.

Print Application Form: After making your payment, download and print the completed BITSAT application form for future reference. Keep the printed copy safe during the whole admissions process.

corrective Window (if applicable): If there are any errors or mistakes on the application form, the conducting authority will normally grant a corrective window. Candidates may log in to their accounts during the stated time period to make changes to their application information.

admission Card Download: Once the application procedure is complete, enrolled applicants can access their BITSAT admission cards via the official website. The admit card includes vital information such as the exam date, time, location, and directions for the exam day.

BITSAT Exam: On the designated date, participants must present to their respective exam centers with the admit card and a valid picture ID. The BITSAT exam is administered online and consists of multiple-choice questions covering Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, English Proficiency, and Logical Reasoning.

Result Declaration: After the BITSAT exam, the conducting authority posts the results on the official website. Candidates can check their scores and retrieve their scorecards from the website using their login information.
