Eligibility & Admission

  • To be eligible for B.E./B.Tech, candidates must have at least 60% in PCM courses and an aggregate of 55% in class 12th board exams from a recognized board (55% for SC/ST/OBC).
  • Candidates' ages should range from 17 to 25 years.
  • Students must have qualified for either one of the following entry exams: IMU-CET/JEE/MANET/BITSAT
The Admission Process

The admissions process for marine engineering programs may differ depending on the institution and country. The JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams, which are required for admission to public universities, are the most widely known engineering entrance exams in the country. In addition to the national/state-level entrance exams, private universities give their own assessments. When choosing the top marine engineering colleges, consider their accreditation, curriculum, and possibilities for hands-on experience.

Admission Exams for B.E./B.Tech Marine Engineering

To pursue a Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, students must first take the National Entrance Examination (JEE) or State-level Entrance Exams such as KCET, MHT CET, WBJEE, or COMED-K, followed by University Entrance Exams. These examinations are critical entry points for aspiring students seeking admission to reputable universities.

  • The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the JEE Main exam online over a three-hour period.
  • The Indian Institute of Technology conducts the JEE Advanced (IIT JEE) exam online with a duration of three hours.
  • The KCET exam is administered in offline mode by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) and lasts 1 hour and 20 minutes.
  • The West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam conducts the WBJEE exam in offline mode for a length of two hours.
  • The Maharashtra Government conducts the MHT- CET test in offline mode with a time constraint of 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  • The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board conducts GUJCET in offline format at the time duration of 3hours.
Future Scope

After earning a B.E. or B.Tech degree, a marine engineer can pursue one of three primary career pathways.

1.Employment Opportunities: Marine engineer graduates can find acceptable employment in the engineering domain in the government, public, or private sectors. Many shipbuilding enterprises use marine engineers to design, build, and maintain a variety of vessels. This comprises commercial ships, offshore platforms, naval vessels, and specialised maritime buildings. Experienced marine engineers can prepare the next generation of marine professionals by instructing at maritime academies, technical institutes, or training facilities. Some of the frequent job titles for marine engineer graduates are listed below:
