1.What is JEE Advanced Exam?

The JEE Advanced exam, which stands for Joint Entrance Examination Advanced, is an entrance exam held in India for admission to various undergraduate programs, particularly in engineering, architecture, and science, at prestigious institutions such as the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian School of Mines. It is regarded as one of the most difficult engineering admissions examinations in the world.

JEE Advanced is the second stage of the Joint Entrance Examination, after the JEE Main. Only JEE Main-qualified applicants are eligible to take the JEE Advanced exam. 

  • The test usually consists of two exams
    •  Paper 1 and Paper 2, all of which are required. 
  • The exam assesses applicants' knowledge of physics, chemistry, and mathematics, as well as their ability to solve problems.

2.JEE Advanced Eligibilty Criteria?

  • Performance in JEE Main- Only candidates who pass the JEE Main exam are eligible to take JEE Advanced. They must rank among the top 2,50,000 (across all categories) in JEE Main Paper 1.
  • Age Requirements- General category candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 1999. The upper age limit is relaxed for candidates in reserved categories (SC, ST, and PwD).
  • Number of Attempts- A candidate may attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in successive years. However, appearing in JEE Main does not constitute an attempt.
  • Class 12 Appearance-Candidates must have taken the Class 12 as well Candidates must have passed the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination with a minimum of 75% aggregate marks (or rank in the top 20% of their respective boards). For SC, ST, and PwD candidates, the aggregate mark requirement is reduced to 65%. 
  • Subject Requirements: Candidates must have taken Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as required subjects in their Class 12 (or equivalent) exam. 

3.Application Form and Registration Process:

The JEE Advanced application form and registration process typically consist of many steps. Here's a summary of the process:
  • To be eligible for JEE Advanced, you must first qualify in the JEE Main exam and meet the cutoff requirements established by the authorities.
  • Registration: After the results of JEE Main are revealed, registration for JEE Advanced normally begins shortly thereafter. To register for the exam, go to the official JEE Advanced website.
  • Fill out the Application Form: Once registered, you must complete the online application form with correct personal, academic, and contact information. Double-check all of the information before submitting the form. 
  • Upload Documents: You must upload scanned copies of all required documents, including a recent photograph, signature, and any other documents mentioned in the instructions. Ensure that the documents meet the size and format specifications.
  • Pay Application Fee: The next step is to pay the application fee. The fee varies for each category of candidate and is non-refundable. Payment can normally be made online via net banking, a credit card, a debit card, or another suitable method.
  • Submit the Form: After completing all of the necessary steps, carefully examine your application form and submit it online. Once submitted, you may not be able to make any changes, so make sure all of the information is correct. 
  • Download Confirmation Page: After a successful submission, save and print the confirmation page for your records. This page verifies that your application was successfully submitted.
  • JEE Advanced admit cards are normally released a few weeks before the exam date. You will be able to get your admission card from the official website by entering your registration information
  • Exam Day: Bring a printed copy of your admit card and a valid photo ID to the exam center. 


4.Documents Required:

Certainly! In simple terms, the following documents are required for JEE Advanced:

  • A clean, recent passport-sized image of yourself. Make sure the image is of acceptable quality and satisfies the size and format specifications.
  • Signature: Please sign on a plain white sheet. It should be done in black ink and properly scanned before posting.
  • Date of Birth Proof: Any document that verifies your date of birth, such as your birth certificate, Aadhar card, passport, or any other government-issued ID that includes your date of birth.
  • A scanned copy of your Class 10 certificate or mark sheet as proof of passing the tenth grade exams. 
  • A scanned copy of your Class 12 certificate or grade sheet. This is to confirm that you have taken the 12th grade exam or its equivalent.
  • Category Certificate (if applicable): If you belong to a reserved category (such as SC, ST, OBC-NCL, or PwD), you must produce a scanned copy of the relevant category certificate issued by the competent government.

5.Syllabus:


The syllabus for JEE Advanced is extensive, covering topics in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Below is a full overview of the syllabus for each subject:

Physics:


  • General: Dimensional analysis, error analysis, vector algebra, kinematics, laws of motion, work, energy, and power.
  • Mechanics: centre of mass, collisions, friction, rigid body dynamics, rotational dynamics, and gravitation.
  • Thermal Physics: Kinetic theory of gases, thermodynamics, heat transmission, and calorimetry.
  • Electrostatics, current electricity, capacitance, magnetostatics, electromagnetic induction, alternating current, and electromagnetic waves are all examples of electricity and magnetism.
  • Geometrical optics, wave optics, interference, diffraction, and polarization are all forms of optics.
  • Modern Physics: The duality of matter and radiation, atoms and nuclei, electronic gadgets, semiconductors, and communication systems. 

Chemistry:


Physical chemistry:

  • General subjects include gaseous and liquid states, atomic structure and chemical bonding, energetics, and chemical equilibrium.
  • Chemical kinetics, solid state, solutions, surface chemistry, and electrochemistry.

Inorganic Chemistry:

  • Isolation/preparation and characteristics of the nonmetals and compounds listed below: hydrogen, s-block elements, p-block elements, d- and f-block elements.
  • Coordination compounds and environmental chemistry.
Organic Chemistry:

  • Concepts include the preparation, characteristics, and reactivity of alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, arenes, halogens, alcohols, phenols, ethers, aldehydes, ketones, and carboxylic acids.
  • Amino acids and peptides, biomolecules, polymers, real-world chemistry, and practical chemical principles. 


Mathematics:


Algebra:
  • Complex numbers, quadratic equations, permutations and combinations, mathematical induction, the binomial theorem and its basic applications, sequences, and series.
Trigonometry:
  • Trigonometric functions include graphs, identities, equations, and inverse trigonometric functions.
Analytical geometry:
  • Introduction to three-dimensional geometry, including straight lines, circles, parabolas, ellipses, and hyperbolas.
Differential calculus:
  • Limits and continuity, derivatives, their applications, tangents and normals, maxima and minima.
Integral calculus:
  • Differential equations, definite and indefinite integrals, and integration applications.
Vectors:
  • Vector algebra, scalar and vector products, and its geometric applications.
Probability:
  • Probability, addition and multiplication rules, conditional probability, Bayes' theorem, and probability distributions. 


6.Exam Pattern:

The JEE Advanced test structure normally consists of two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2, each lasting three hours. Below is a thorough breakdown of the exam pattern:

Paper 1:

  • Paper 2's questions, like Paper 1, are objective (multiple-choice) and have numerical answers.
  • overall Questions: The overall number of questions is almost equal to Paper 1, which is usually around 54.
  • Marks Distribution: Each subject (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) is assigned equal weightage in terms of marks.
  • Marking Scheme:
    • Similar to Paper 1, candidates can receive full marks, partial marks, or zero points for multiple-choice questions based on their answers.
    • There are no negative markings for numerical answer questions.
