MET Exam 2024


 

The Manipal Entrance Test (MET) is an entrance exam administered by Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) for admission to the university's undergraduate and postgraduate programs. MET is held once a year, typically in April or May, and serves as a gateway to schools in Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Allied Health Sciences, Architecture, and many other professions.

2. ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA:

Nationality: 
  • Candidates must be Indian citizens.
Qualifying Examination:
  • For undergraduate programs: Candidates should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board with Physics, Mathematics, and English as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology or any other technical vocational subject.
  • For postgraduate programs: Candidates should have a relevant bachelor's degree in the respective field from a recognized university.
Minimum Marks:

  • For undergraduate programs: Candidates must have obtained at least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Mathematics, and one of the optional subjects.
  • For postgraduate programs: The minimum marks required may vary depending on the program. Generally, candidates should have obtained at least 50% aggregate marks in their qualifying examination.
Age Limit: 
  • There is usually no specific age limit for appearing in the MET.
Subjects:
  • For undergraduate engineering programs, candidates must have studied Physics, Mathematics, and English as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology or any other technical vocational subject.
  • For other undergraduate programs, eligibility criteria may vary depending on the specific program.
Additional Requirements:
  • Some programs may have additional eligibility criteria such as specific subjects studied in the qualifying examination or minimum scores in entrance exams like JEE Main, NEET, etc., depending on the program's requirements.

2. EXAM PATTERN:

1.Mode of Examination: The MET is typically conducted in online mode (computer-based test).

2.Type of Questions: The exam generally consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs). However, in some cases, it may include other question formats such as fill-in-the-blank, matching, or true/false questions.

3.Sections: The number of sections and subjects covered in the exam depend on the program for which a candidate is applying. For example:

For undergraduate engineering programs, typical sections include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English.
For undergraduate medical programs, sections might include Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany and Zoology), and English.
For postgraduate programs, the sections may vary according to the discipline.
4.Number of Questions: The number of questions in MET varies depending on the program. Typically, there are around 200 questions for undergraduate programs and around 120 questions for postgraduate programs.

5.Duration: The duration of the exam varies, but it is generally around 2.5 to 3 hours.

6.Marking Scheme: Each question carries a certain number of marks, and there may be negative marking for incorrect answers. The exact marking scheme may vary from year to year.

4.Application Process:

  • Registration:
Visit the official website of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) or MET.
Look for the 'Admissions' or 'MET' section.
Click on the 'Apply Now' or 'Registration' link.
You'll be directed to the registration page where you'll need to provide basic details like name, email address, mobile number, etc.
After filling in the required information, submit the registration form.

  • Fill Application Form:

Once registered, log in using the credentials (username and password) provided during registration.
Fill in the application form with personal details, educational qualifications, contact information, etc.
Make sure to review the information entered before proceeding to the next step.

  • Upload Documents:

Upload scanned copies of documents such as passport-sized photograph, signature, and any other documents as required.
Ensure that the documents meet the specified format and size criteria mentioned in the application guidelines.

  • Select Exam Center:

Choose the preferred exam center from the available options provided in the application form.
The exam center selection is usually based on the availability and convenience of the candidate.
Fee Payment:

Pay the application fee through the available payment options such as credit/debit card, net banking, etc.

  • Submit Application:

  • Admit Card Download:

After the application process is completed and the application is successfully submitted, candidates can download the admit card/hall ticket from the official website.
Admit card contains important details such as exam date, time, venue, and candidate's details.
It is mandatory to carry the admit card to the examination center on the day of the exam.

  • Exam Day:

On the day of the exam, candidates must reach the exam center well before the reporting time mentioned on the admit card.
Carry a printed copy of the admit card along with a valid photo ID proof (Aadhar card, passport, driving license, etc.).

  • Result Declaration:
